Instructions
Preparation: Thoroughly wash and dry the trunk.
Equipment:
- Acrylic 3M Foam Double-Sided Tape (or from BMW Part# 51-71-0-027-047).
- Razor blade
- M5 Trunk Spoiler (51-71-7-901-594)
- The tape was about 3/4" in diameter. The spoiler is about
1.5" wide. The tape was placed about 1/8"-1/4"
from the trailing edge (the right side of the picture) and from
the ends.
- A second row of tape was placed snugly to the left of the
first strip. This was to the edge of the spoiler (leading edge
or the edge to be closest to the rear windshield)
- Use the razor blade to trim any excess tape. (See at the base
of the picture).
- Note the placement on the right. Try to even out the spaces
from the edge of the trunk to the edge of the spoiler.
- Note the placement of the spoiler on the left (orientation
from the rear of the car).
- When initially placing the spoiler, do not press down very
hard. Tack down the ends first. The spoiler needs to follow
the contour of the trunk line. There is a slight curvature toward
the rear of the trunk. Make the spoiler follow that.
- Now press firmly into place.
- Just a hint of something on the trunk. Simple installation.
It took us about 15 minutes.
- It is recommended that someone else helps out. One person
sets the right and the other sets the left.
