M5 Front Bumper Installation--Step 3

Installing M5 Bumper Parts into the Engine Area

  1. New Brake Air Channel
  2. New Lower Engine Cover
  3. Left and Right New Fender Liners (Temporary)
  4. Connecting New Fog Lamp Plug
Removal of Stock Parts (STEP 2)

1. Installation of the M5 Air Brake Channels

Using the 3 hex head screws (8mm socket bit) from the old air brake channel, secure the M5 Air Brake Channel on each side. You may need to pull off the screw clips from the bottom of the stock air channels and attach them to the M5 Air Brake Channels. Secure into place. Top

2. Install the M5 Lower Engine Cover

Take the M5 Lower Engine Cover and screw it into place using a Philips screw driver. Don't forget about the single screw that attaches just behind the oil pan access door. If the clip is missing near the area of the oil pan access door, replace it with a clip off of the stock engine cover. Top

3. Temporarily Install the Left and Right Fender Liners

Use the 3 hex head screws (8mm socket bits) taken off from the stock fender liners to secure into place.

Note the alignment of the edges that mate with the Lower Engine Cover.

If these fender liners do not have any screws near the tray area of the fender itself, install them now. The screws have the same design as the Lower Engine Cover. There are a total of 4 on each side. 2 of the 4 are 16mm long and the other 2 are 13.5mm long. Be sure to install the screw clamps onto the M5 Front Bumper as well. Top

4. Rewiring the Stock Fog Lamp Plug

Splice the Stock fog lamp wires. Solder or make a quick connector to the M5 Fog Lamp Plug. Just in case you sell your car later, you can easily disconnect the M5 Fog Lamp wiring and replug the stock wiring by using quick connectors.

Insert the wires (2 per plug) into the M5 Fog Lamp Plug. You will feel them snap-lock into place. Top
